Places to Eat near Instow Beach Cottage

When staying at Instow Beach Cottage you will be spoilt for choice when finding somewhere to enjoy a meal. In Instow itself, there are several excellent pubs and restaurants, many with sea views and an extensive menu that features locally caught fish. Within the wider area, there are award-winning restaurants perfect for celebrating a special occasion and traditional pubs ideal for relaxed meals either in the beer garden or beside the fire. The Boathouse

At the Boathouse in Instow sandy feet and muddy paws are always welcome. This contemporary beach bar and restaurant with roof terrace overlooks the estuary and has a menu featuring freshly prepared dishes, as well as daily fish specials.  

Instow Arms

The pretty Instow Arms has great sea views and serves a range of fresh food using where possible local produce. The dog-friendly pub, which is just a few doors down from Instow Beach Cottage is well worth a visit, especially in the winter when the fire is roaring.

Instow Barton

Situated in a Devon farmhouse in Instow is a cosy restaurant that serves quality cuisine that has a distinctive French influence. This popular restaurant gets booked up quickly, so make sure you give them a call to reserve your table.

The Wayfarer Inn

Tucked away up one of the small lanes in Instow is The Wayfarer, a bright and airy pub with restaurant area. The barn is well stocked and there is a great range of dishes on offer. The pub is dog-friendly and has a great atmosphere for casual dining.

Memories

The award-winning Memories in Northam is a wonderful, intimate restaurant for celebrating a special occasion. The popular restaurant, which needs to be booked in advance, has a stunning a la carte menu featuring dishes such as local crab, Devon beef and wild sea bass. Where possible all meat, poultry and fish are sourced locally.

The Beaver Inn

Sitting on the banks of the Torridge Estuary in Appledore and enjoying stunning panoramic sea views is The Beaver Inn. The traditional pub has a good menu featuring home cooked food and locally caught fish. At the bar, you will find a range of ales, wines and other drinks.

The Royal George

The waterside Royal George in Appledore has some of the best views that are best enjoyed when tucking into some of the innovative dishes on offer that offer modern twists on traditional classics.

Pier House

The award-winning Pier House at Westward Ho! sits in one of North Devon’s most stunning locations. Perched on the cliff edge it has breathtaking views across the ocean all the way to Lundy Island. The food on offer is also some of the best in the area.   

Mariners

The Mariners in Bideford is renowned for serving fresh fish dishes, but also has a wide array of other meals available. The setting is ideal for all occasions and the food is cooked to order using fresh local ingredients. Booking is recommended.

Morans

Morans Thai Restaurant in Westward Ho! offers a stunning range of Thai cuisine and English dishes, which are complemented by cocktails and a large wine list. Situated in the heart of the village it has wonderful views and a relaxed atmosphere.  

The Pig on the Hill

At the Pig on the Hill near Westward Ho! you can relax in a family-friendly pub that serves excellent food all year round. The dishes, which are all cooked to order using the best in regional produce are accompanied by a range of drinks, such as local ales and ciders.
